Default 84 Corvette 383

So I picked up an 84 c4 from my father in law for real cheap since the cam wiped a lobe and he didn’t want to put the money in it anymore. I was wondering what it would take to turn the l83 block into a 383 and how to switch to a carburetor while keeping the tv cable and still be able to close the hood. Any help will be appreciated.

Way too much to reply.....But basically, alot of money for the engine. Then you have alot of wiring to get rid of. Switch to low pressure fuel pump for the carb. If its a low rise intake itll clear the hood, but with no room for an air filter. And the TV cable setup will work with a carb with the right brackets.
Its really not as bad as it sounds, but be prepared if your gonna go down that road. Alot of work.

do you have a recommendation on which fuel pump and which intake? And how will I filter air if there’s no room for a filter?

Don't get rid of the CF and no need to go to a carb. Build the 383 that you want, replace the ECM with an EBL and start laptop tuning and be done. Put an external fuel pressure regulator on it and start out at around 25psi and go from there. You should be able to get decent power out of the motor, mine runs mid 12s with no problem. Contact me if you want more info on doing the upgrade.

Yes, I did it myself until the final tune that was done at Horsepower Connection in Lake Havasu AZ on a dyno. However, the car has been on a dyno several times so I could tweak it a bit more with mods added. You should be able to get a drive-able tune fairly quick on your own. A great place to go about the tuning is Thirdgen.org lots of members there with a great deal of tuning ability. Bob fro Dynamic EFI is a mod there and will answer any questions you have about his product to include tune issues. There is another good guy there named Street Lethal that is very good, plus others. There are also a few 84 owners here that can help you as well. On Thirdgen look under Forums.Tech boards/DFI and ECM for most of the tuning info and how to get started. There is a guy there that has no real experience with tuning and he is getting pretty close to a good drive-able tune in only a few weeks on his own. Here is the link. Tuning Link
