Are the codes typical for all cars or are they specific for each make/model? Also are the Units universal or again model specific ? I know there is OBD 1/OBD 2

OBD2 was to standardize functionality, plugs, and codes.
OBD1 was manufacturer dependent, but codes were common across the manufacturer. The thing you have to be care of is what the car was equipped with. Say 33/34 and 36 have one meaning with MAF, but 33/34 only for MAP. Both relate to air flow.
