On my 1993 when I try locking or unlocking the doors with the key fob, only the passenger door locks or unlocks. What could cause this? When you hit the button on the door, both doors work. It only won't work with the key fob. I've never had an issue like this before in all the many years of repairing cars and trucks

I believe that is normal Because the drivers door operates on the proximity of the fob. If you are close enough for the fob to work, the drivers door should unlock automatically. If you set it to unlock both doors when in proximity, the lock/unlock button on the fob becomes unnecessary.

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with your PKE module. The PKE module should unlock the door automatically when you approach the car and turn on the interior lighting. It uses an antenna in the driver door and one in the hatch area to sense the proximity of the key fob. As you exit the car and walk away, the PKE module will lock the doors and sound the horn to confirm the car is locked. Is your PKE module locking the doors as you walk away? Chirping the horn?

The fob is not used to lock or unlock doors (exception: it can be used to unlock the passenger door). The fob locks the doors when you walk away from the car and unlocks the doors when you walk towards it. There are no lock/unlock buttons like normal cars. Like others have said, all appears to be working properly. You should read all of the PKE related info in your owenrs manual, but if your car does not currently lock/unlock when you walk away/towards the car, it means it is currently turned "off". To turn it "on" stand outside the car (key out of the ignition) and hold down the door button until you hear a clack/clack sound. It should now be on.
