I'm trying to bleed the clutch system. But I pump my Motive Power bleeder to 13psi, loosen the slave's bleed screw. Almost nothing comes out. Master, slave and clutch line are all 1 year old. I have tried every other bleeding method with no success. I haven't driven the car in a year. Long story.
That said, anyone have any clue as to why nothing is coming out of the bleed screw?
Ok I feel dumb. I wasn't loosening the bleed screw enough yesterday. I bled it. It was smooth shifting for a little, then 2nd, 5th, and 6th got rough again. Not driving. Just going through the gears in the garage. Going to see if there are any leaks.
No leaks. This thing shifts like ****. Done with C4's, I feel.

Ok so, I drove the car around the block Thursday and yesterday. Clutch bitepoint is great. Sometimes, it takes effort to get into 1st. Letting go of the clutch pedal, pushing it back in usually helps. The last time I drove this car was May or June of 2019. Back then, it would grind reverse kind of frequent. So far, it has not. So at least there is a positive.
Gotta admit, felt great to drive it.
I wish I knew someone local with a zf6 c4, to compare shift feel.

Lets hope its a faulty slave and not synchros..tearing into that trans is never a fun thing.
Synchros would not really manifest themselves if you are simply shifting through the gears with the engine off i.e. nothing is spinning... They are there to get the next gear spinning as you shift.
Really if the trans is having issue shifting when the engine is not even running, its possibly not in the clutch either and could be a deeper issue inside the trans.

Those statements are contradicting to me. Maybe I'm just misinterpreting it.
Always put the trans in 1st or 2nd prior to reverse....toploader, muncie all of them R never grinds.
WIth the engine off can you with the clutch pressed in run through all the gears then back down?

If you are simply shifting through the gears with the engine off, the clutch and synchros have nothing to do with a poor shifting transmission...
With the engine off, clutch engaged(foot off the clutch pedal), in both of my manual cars(my 96 with ZF and my 19 with TR7060), I can shift through all gears just fine.
So, with the engine off, clutch engaged(foot off the clutch pedal), you are having issues shifting through the gears correct? That leads me away from the clutch being an issue. You should be able to cleanly shift through all gears in the trans with minimal effort without the engine running. That takes the clutch out of the equation since you are not asking it disconnect the trans from the engine.
NOW if you only have issue shifting through the gears when the engine IS RUNNING then the clutch would be suspect. In that case the clutch is not fully able to disconnect the transmission input shaft from the engine.
I believe you are saying you have issues in both situations... Possibly a bent shift fork or other internal issue, but I am far from a ZF expert.

I can, but you have to force to go into gear. So without putting a fair anount of effort, no I can't.
