Maybe this should be in tech. On my '93 coupe my rear hatch will not open either with the door switch or inside the console switch. I've gone on other sites but want to hear from fellow Vette owners. Is it the switch, the relay, or the solenoid. And where are the relay and solenoid exactly located. Is this a fix I can do myself?? I was able to pop the hatch with the safety release cable at the rear of the cargo area. Thanks in advance!

The solenoid should be underneath the rear trim piece. If the fuse is good I would check to make sure you have power to the solenoid. If that's not the issue chances are the solenoid is no good. What happened to mine was a internal wire broke causing the polarity of the motor to swap. Apparently it's a common issue with them. There was a video on YouTube showing how to fix it but since it's all electrical work I took the easy way out and bought a used solenoid.
Thanks Cruisinfanatic. I forgot to mention I did check the fuse and it looks okay.
Anyone have a recommendation as to where would be the best place to buy the solenoid?

Can't count the number of times I've heard here regarding fuses "It looks ok". You cant tell that way. You have to replace with a known good one

Did you know those solenoids are easily repairable? The biggest fail point on the solenoids themselves is an internal ground inside the solenoid case that opens up. I outlined the repair procedure I've used to fix several of them in this thread ( link---> ) HERE
Fix it yourself and save yourself a bundle, plus you don't risk spending (or maybe wasting) money on another one that may fail the same way.
