I need someone help on this one. After 10 years of begging my wife she finally let me buy a vette. Something I have dreamed of owning pretty much all my life. I purchased an 87 from a company that specializes in buying cars from businesses that go bankrupted. This particular vette was purchased from the Corvette Collection in Ohio and bought down here to Miami. Even though I messed up and did not do a carfax on it, it runs great, everything works on it and its in very good condition. Here are my questions, 1. Only the drivers side seat is electric the passengers is not. You control the seat by buttons in the middle not like I have seen other vettes of the same year have them on the seat. 2. The dash has the plastic, like wood all the way around while I have seen 87 vettes have some type of soft popped out dash on the passenger side. My does not have that type of dash. 3. Instead of limited slip it has a posi traction. Can anyone tell me if GM made a few vettes like this or was my vette worked on and the dash and seats were changed with older models.
the popped out dash or the breadbox as others have called it, is standard to my knowledge.
Power seats on drivers side with the controls are in the center console normal, i think only the sport seats had the bolster controls on the seats
as to the rear end, i thought they where all posi's
non-power passenger seat is not unusual. The controls for the drivers seat are normal, that's how mine are. You have a standard power drivers seat, rather than the sport model seats. L-slip and positraction are essentially the same thing, just different names. The "breadloaf" has been replaced by a previous owner. Be glad they did it, as it really is ugly and detracts from the overall look of the car imho.
Welcome to the corvette club. I hope you have as much fun as I've had in the last 3 months.
I also have an 87 with the same electric driver (controls in console) and standard seat on right. I think the padded dash (a.k.a. breadbox) is standard. There is a kit to reduce its size (about $40), I figure that you have the kit. I have no idea on the rear end.
Zarr :seeya
Thanks to all for your help, was starting to get worried. My wife thinks I am crazy as I clean it almost everyday. I guess then the previous owner replaced the breadbox,,,, ha I learned a new name the "breadbox".
Welcome My87,
Nice choice of year! If you want to see what the breadbox looks like before BBD (bread box delete), you can check out the Tech Tip I wrote on replacing it. https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...=197&TopicID=2
