Default 1990 Corvette: CODE 32

Hello,

I have a 1990 Corvette, Base Model.

Lately, after about a half an hour of driving on the highway, check engine light pops up. Plug the code reader: Code 32. I've changed the EGR Valve (which was not working) checked the vacuum lines. Same code.

Should I change the solenoid?

I read in one of the forums that the EGR temperature sensor could be the culprit. 30 minutes after the car is started, it does a system test. Which sounds about right. Part number 14087415. But before I buy it for $60, I want to check it. Now according to the Internet, the sensor is on the front of the EGR valve under the plenum; the temp sensor should screw into the base of the valve just above the front bolt. (I changed the EGR Valve, no sensor in the base) Then in later models, the sensor was in the EGR tube between the right exhaust manifold and the intake base. I checked, there is no sensor or even a hole where it should screw on.

Even weirder, some websites say the part number is for 1986-1989, some say the same part number is for 1986-1991. Really confusing. What am I missing something here? I appreciate any help you give me.

Thank you

14087415 EGR temp sensor is for 86-89 only. yes sometimes websites get stuff wrong like that, it happens.

For 1990, there is no EGR temp sensor, and there is no '30 minute' timer and no 'system test'.
ECM monitors the MAP voltage to determine if an EGR request was successful or not. When the EGR is activated, engine vacuum will slightly decrease and the MAP voltage will increase which signals a successful EGR operation.

Likely causes of 32 are solenoid, diaphragm, and vacuum lines.

You can probably test all components before you pull out the wallet.
