The starter on my 1984 Corvette has pooped the bed the question I have is In removing the starter do you have to drop the exhaust pipes if there is anything else I need to look out for feel free to give me the information before I take on this project all shortcuts are welcome
My Haynes manual does not mention the exhaust:
1. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Disconnect electrics from starter.
4. Remove transmission cooler line bracket screw.
5. Remove knock sensor shield screws and electrical connector.
6. Remove support bracket to starter nut.
7. Loosen the support bracket to engine bolt.
8. Swing bracket out of way.
9. Remove starter bolts (that go into the block).
10. Slide starter forward until snout clears bellhousing, then swing snout end away from vehicle.
I dropped mine today with no problem at all. It fished right around the exhaust. Had it off and out in under ten minutes. I didn't even jack the thing up.
