Just purchased my first c4! I’ve been looking for a weekend sports car for about two years . Decided on a c4 because it filled all my requirements! Performance, Affordability, looks, parts availability and just plain fun to drive!
I purchased a well cared for 1992 automatic coupe with 28,000 miles. Clean car fax and Lots of paperwork. routine maintenance was performed. New water pump was installed along with a set of new tires at 22,000 miles. 2012 . Everything works as it should, drives straight no fluid residue on ground or on engine.
Looking for some advice as to fluid changing and maybe some things I should be looking at before I take a weekend trip?
If 2012 was the year those tires were made then you should replace them. I bought my 95 Corvette with what I thought was good tires (lots of tread left). Then I noticed the car shakes badly anytime I was doing 50-63 MPH. I looked at the tires close and saw the front were 8 years old and the back ones were 10 years old. I replaced all four tires and the shaking went away. The guys at discount tires told me that the rubber itself is only good for 5-6 years. After that you should replace the tires or risk bad handling or even a blow out.
Grats on the car and welcome to the Corvette family!
I agree with the others on the tires... you are right at the EOL of them...they may look fine but the rubber gets hard and thus slippery with a torquey rear wheel drive car.
Do what I and others have done, go down one tire size (no perf or other negative impact) and there are plenty of tires/brands available. I got Riken Raptors (Michelin off brand)...they were $400 *total* for all four plus install/disposal, they are awesome (at least they fit my needs)
In regards to other maintenance, you can check the post on my car from a few months ago, I had a laundry list of things to dive through.
Now your showing a truly beautiful Corvette, and before Winter hits, time to go on rides and check out the colors of the leaves, before you start raking them.
