Default Opinions please

ok guys i am almost ready to give up hope on finding a lt4 that i like and that is in my price range. tell me what you all think about the following. what if i were to wait untill the C6's came out? are they supposed to come out 2004? or 2005? have they said yet? also if i wait a year or so more then that will give lt4 future lt4 sellers more time to put more miles on thier cars driving the price down as well. am i on to something here? what do you think?

Deals are out there, you just have to find them.

Have patience grasshopper!

BTW, nothing wrong with the LT1 six speed. Depending on the driver they are just as quick.

Hang in there until you find the one you're looking for. It'll happen eventually, and taste even sweeter for the wait. Understand how excruciatingly difficult it is. BTW, the low mile ones depreciate too.

I agree with Mr. Mojo. Have patience my friend. Right now Vette prices are really down. Look around and remember there is always a good deal provided you can come up with the cash or financing to make it possible.

I also agree with what others have said.

Your theory is probably correct though. Some C4 owners will be upgrading to C5's when the C6's come out, and so on (obviously if someone can afford a new C6 then money isn't a large concern). WHEN NEW MODELS COME OUT, IT AFFECTS THE OLDER MODELS PRICES BECAUSE EVERYONE WANTS WHAT IS NEW, BUT through the years corvettes have been less susceptible to this. Also, if they butcher the new C6's looks or emasculate it's power (I hope not), then everyone who wants a vette will be looking at an older model.

Bottom line is that there are some good deals available, but you must actively look, and be patient. Why not drive a great sports now, rather than wait? Who knows what the future will bring.

The C6 should be out as a 2005 model, and will be introduced mid to late 2004. This is true unless GM pulls another 1983 on us.

As far as your question, I'm not entirely clear as to what you're asking. Are you asking whether you should wait for the C6 so that the LT4 C4s will go down in price, so that you can afford one? Or are you asking if you should buy a C6 instead of look for an LT4 C4?

I'm thinking it's the latter. The '96 with an LT4 will undoubtedly, except for the special cars such as the GS and ZR1, be at the top of the heap when the C4 begins to appreciate. I'm guessing, based on what has happened to the C3s, that the C4's price will hit rock bottom during the C6's time. Though, even during this time, I'd imagine the LT4 C4s will hold their value better than the others.

I may be coming in on the tail end of this post, but I think you are making it hard on yourself. My opinion is…buy an LT-1 for cheap, and use the extra cash for mods. The difference is 30hp 300 from LT-1 & 330 from the LT-4. The body is the same. Buy the LT-4 badges, and have the intake done in red after your car has 330hp or more if you like the LT-4 that much more. Also think about this... if you have an LT-1 that is faster than an LT-4 then that LT-1 is the badder car in my book. After all the LT-4 is a modified LT-1. If you wait you are only robbing yourself from fun you could be having now.

Thanks VVette dreams but its not so much that i really need a LT4 but the fact that im set on a 96 since they are the last of the C4s i wish i could get a base model(LT1) in manual in 96 but since they obviously didnt make them i am forced to go with a higher priced car(the LT4) coupe. i really dont care how much horsepower it starts out with since im eventually going to tear it all down anyway and build up something a bit faster. i just really want a 96 manual coupe thats all
