Headlight scratching noise 1984
What signals the motor to go up then down when turned off? I know the middle red wire is always hot. Guessing that when it gets a solid ground it goes up and solid ground to go down. Missing something that will get the noise to stop and suspect the battery will then stay charged. Please share your thoughts

Thank you for your effort to help. The problem seems to be a grounding issue. I will use your diagram and keep digging. I replaced the gears in the motor and that is how I got it to this point. I will take motor apart and examine the wiring carefully (replace brushes while there). Currently the hot wire when the lights are up becomes the ground when the lights are down (middle wire in the connector plug). I will get it figured out
