Road trips are my favorite thing to do with my C4. Long drives give you a sense of what a capable car it is. Just about anything you need it to do, it will.
I have done several road trips with each of my 1995 Corvettes and never had any trouble. So glad you decided to drive the car. Original vented optispark failures at 38k miles are practically unheard of.
I would not hesitated to fuel up my prior (racing) '88 and drive to LA.
With the two current ones I'm not so confident as I rarely take trips these days.
I would suggest you change oil/filter, check ATF, coolant, fuel pressure, tire/brakes condition and such; then fuel up, hit the road and enjoy the experience with your Vette.
