My heater has stopped working (actually I cant remember last time I wanted to make it warmer in there), are there any common issues that are easy fixes, or do I need to go through a complete diagnosis.
Run car enough to get engine warm. No heat? ok, open the hood.
On the passenger side, near the outside edge of the firewall, you'll
seem 2 tubes going through the firewall. One of them has a vacumn-
activated valve on it. Push on the lever on the top - get the valve to
move 90 degrees. Wait a minute, then check if you have heat inside
now. If you do, that dual tube/valve assembly has to be changed.
This failed on both my '85 and '86, and is a very common problem.
Didn't replace it myself, but isn't hard. If you want to buy the part
and replace it yourself, and don't already know about Jeff Kopp,
email me - I'll tell you how to get it at less cost than local Chevy dealer.
