Default locating a D44?

I've decided to make the switch from a D36 to D44 and I haven't seen them for sale. I look here (fs section) and CL, but can't find one. The good news is I'm in no rush.

TIA

It might be more practical to consider the buy of a MT later C4. If you found a 'local' that were drivable you could consider that a big +! A buy of a later C4 would give you all the parts! C-beam, drive-shaft and very likely enough parts to sell off to make the D44 a 'labor only' effort. Do you have the room?

A '90 buy with a 3.33 might be considered ideal! A very late '89 would do the same. A buy of an early 4+3 would likely get you a 3.07.

I do have the room and I have a D36 with 3.07 that I will sell to offset the costs. Do all D44s from C4s work on a '96? I really want the 3,45/3.54(not sure which one is stock), so finding one with 3.33 gears wouldn't be cost effective to make the switch. I never thought of buy a "donor car", thanks for the input!

Any year will do. Bracket mounting hardware LCA/Spindle Rod bracket bolts to differential are different various years.. '89+ should all be the same I believe. Ratio - late 4L60e I'd think the 3.33 would be a good choice.

WVZR-1 is spot on about the 3.33 being a good match with the 4L60E. That is the gear ratio I am installing into the D44 that I have. I have a '96.

You could contact Dino's Corvette Salvage, that is who I bought my D44 from. Mark Mirrock of Mirrock Corvette might also have one available.

I don't like the bottom one as much since it doesn't have the batwing with it and I prefer to get the batwing all set up for that particular diff

Not always the cheapest, but you can check out car-part.com. It’s a compilation of salvage yards around the country in one database.
