Hello, Just inherited this corvette and noticed the other day as I was getting that the whole steering column would move up and down as well a side to side. I'm not talking about the tilt wheel but the whole column moved. I did notice as I drove it that movement seemed to get stiffer. I'm not that familiar with the car yet so I was wondering if anyone else has ran into an issue like this and if so is it an easy fix. Can I fix it myself or does it need to go into a shop? I'm not a car mechanic but I am an aircraft mechanic. To me this just feels like a bracket has come loose or something simple like that, but I could be wrong. Thanks for any advise. Mark
Remove the knee panel and then panel under that and check the two bolts on the bracket that holds the column to see if loose. However if it is the steering wheel alone that is moving the blame goes to the knuckle due to previous user using wheel as a lever to climb out of car.

Reason: spelling
Agreed that your problem is likely the knuckle being deformed due to the previous owner(s) using the steering wheel as leverage to heave themselves out of the vehicle.
If you're lucky, an oversized pin can correct the issue. If you're unlucky, you'll be replacing the entire assembly. A user here on the forums was trying to come up with a part for this, and got as far as asking what pricing it should be at, but has gone dead ever since.
