That picture of course, is the rear end out of a C3 Corvette. You can see the swing arms. Here is a picture of a 1981 car. You don't see the bushings on the ends of the swing arms as it was probably just cut off. The swing arms go into the box built into the frame at the rear kickups.

This ^^^^^ is actually irrelevant until a person actually knows he's looking at a C4 rear- It was an 'assumption' made in post #2. I was just going to initially ask if it was at the OP's garage door OR ...........................
