Welcome to the wonderful C4 generation of Corvettes. You will find they are wonderful cars!
First search the forum for how to check codes. This can be done with a small jumper wire or even a paper clip. Plenty of threads on that here. “Have you checked for codes?” will often be the first question most people trying to help will ask.
Opti is often the favorite whipping boy for problems with our cars. Not saying it isn’t but it could be a problem with spark plugs, ignition wires, fuel pressure, etc. This is where seeing if any codes are showing up can help diagnose the problem.
The tapping noise could be a lifter issue but could also be something else. More information is needed. Is it always there? Is it louder under certain circumstances?
Does the transmission shift normally all other times other than at wide open throttle? Is it not shifting up at all from any gear or all gears? There are some very savvy transmission experts on this forum but you will need to provide more specific information.
As Whaleman said, separate the issues into specific threads and you may get more responses, but for each of them a lot more information will be needed.
Hello there! The symptoms you're posting about could be a lot of things. For example, not shifting at WOT could be your transmission on the way out (specifically the clutch packs no longer able to hold torque at WOT), or just old fluid, or maybe even a previous owner who did something stupid with a Hypertech. We're not there looking at it, so we can't tell you exactly what it is.
What Fiberbundle says about codes is something to start with, but it doesn't sound like you have any warning lights on, so it probably won't actually help any. Still, here's the method so you don't have to search around: https://tech.corvettecentral.com/201...trouble-codes/
Since you have a '95, my first suggestion would be to grab a USB-to-ALDL cable and some free software, then start logging some drives. This can show you exactly what the engine is doing, what all the car's sensors are reporting, and even what the transmission is trying to do at any given moment. It's an invaluable diagnostic tool. The cable is here: http://aldlcable.com/products/aldlobd2u.asp
I'm not exactly sure, but i was posting on another thread about a guy buying a black rose vette with 10k miles on it? and somehow it landed in this thread?
