Ignition switch problems...

I have a '96 Corvette LT-4. Lately I have been having a problem getting the key out of the ignition switch. I can shut off the engine and all electrical but not able to remove the key without fooling around with it for several minutes. At one time I couldn't even shut the engine down without a lot of key jiggling. It does have the passive entry system but I have never used it in the eight years I've had the car. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

If you are going that route, you might want to check with a locksmith, and while there, ask them to test your key, so you know the number if you order new ignition switch you need to know the number of your key to VATS.
You might spray a little Si lubricant into the lock and see if that solves the issue.
If you want to try a new key you can just measure the resistance across the "chip" or take it to a Chevy dealer.
Soon as I got my "new" '89 I took it to my local Chevy dealer to get a 2nd key set made.
