Rear hatch drainage tubes

Rear hatch drainage tubes
I am going to replace the hatch weatherstrip, and figure I will install the drainage tubes in the corners.
I read some old posts, and some recommend using a long drill bit to go through the 2 layers, but no one said how long.
For those who have done this, how long of a bit would you recommend?

I used a standard length bit when I installed mine and had no problems. Just be sure to tape over the paint on the B-pillar and quarter panel to protect against any mishaps. If you don't feel comfortable using a standard bit, get one that's double the length. It was truly an easy job that you'll be glad you did.
