I put heat shield/sound deadening in my 86 when I replaced the carpet. It's a big job but worth it I believe. I noticed a much cooler cabin in the summer and less road noise for sure with the top up. I don't remember the brand I used. Purchased from one of the corvette specialty stores.

There's a place in Orlando, FL Exoticvette I think, that does pre cut kits. I have a 95 convrt, and will cost Approx $265 for entire interior.

What are you trying to do? Quiet down tire noise? That's all one of those kits might do at all. Probably just as much gain from putting new, quieter tires on it honestly.

Get some kilmat from Amazon, once you get the hang of it its pretty easy. No need to buy a kit, you can get all the kilmat you'll need for under $100

I have a 1990 vert and know I won't ever bother with it. I have my top down all the time, unless I get caught in unexpected rain, so really wouldn't benefit.

Default Reduce Rear Tire noise

I use Hardware store Frost-King self sticking foil/foam insulation.
It's about 20 bucks for 15 sq ft.
It takes about 3 rolls for an Olds-442, or about 1.5 rolls for a C4.

I like my very quiet factory exhaust on my convertible.
However the tire/road noise is noticeable.
My goal was to reduce the amount of rear-tire noise.
I believe I was successful in reducing the rear-tire noise, but I do not have a Db meter, so I can't actually measure the improvement.

On my 95-C4 convertible, I installed some in rear section, under the carpet around the rear speakers and inside rear wheel wells.
I also removed the plastic rear inner fenders.
Then I installed a layer on the Outside-fiberglass area just above the wheel.
And I installed a layer on the inside of the plastic inner fenders.
After the inner fenders and carpets were put back, you can't see any of the
silver insulation.
So if you counted, there are 3-Layers of insulation between the tire and the carpet.

I have not removed the main cabin carpet yet.
If I do, I plan on added extra insulation for Heat and sound deadening.

Here is my assistant. There are several pre-cut insulation sections on the floor.
After the pieces are installed, a little extra RTV is used to secure them to the underside of the car.
After the inner wheel fender is installed, the insulation is not visible.

Here is a better shot of the inner fiberglass section with the insulation installed.
The White-RTV, will dry clear. The plastic inner fender will block the insulation from view.

Hey Scott,
I have a 1991 convertible and I had two coats of Lizard skin sound deadener and two coats of Lizard skin thermal shot onto the interior floor and footwells of my car. It is a spray on product. It is quite a bit quieter and the trans-hump is much cooler after the applications. It was about $600.00 dollars.

It does help some to quieten creaks and rattles you might hear from the suspension or other things, some drone if your exhaust resonates, if you have a coupe especially.

Is it better than the factory cut pile underneath for heat? Well I don't know for sure that it made a ton of difference. If I lived in Louisiana again though, I'd definitely have it because every little thing adds up.
