Do you have to pass emissions testing? If you don’t, just hollow them out and be on your way.

But are you sure it is the cats causing your issues. Have you pulled any codes to see if it is anything else?

And LT1 is OHV.

Isn't a downpipe for turbo systems? What exactly are you trying to do and what are these down tubes? Which cat is clogged? Does your 92 have a cat and 2 cats before that? How did you determine which one was clogged?

If you want to prove something, can you disconnect the exhaust system from the end of the manifold and see if it will go past 10 mph before doing something irreversible? It will make the car noise which appeals to the rice boys but might not be so nice in the cabin.

Thank's can't pull codes no ECM. Going to get it fixed. No emissions testing so I'll just hollow them out.

How do you have no ECM? Is this carbed or what?

If you can, I would take a sawzall and remove them from the equation completely, if you dont need emissions, that is. Im sure there is a post about relocating o2 sensors.

Before I did anything else, I'd put a vacuum gauge on that engine, tape it to the windshield, and see what manifold vacuum does when it bogs down. Certainly before I reached for a sawzall or any wrenches.

Live well,
