I have a 94 that sometimes will start just fine but here lately when I turn the key only some of the idiot lights come on and the starter does nothing. No click or any sound, except for the fuel pump. It does not do this all the time. Most of the time I could keep turning the key until everything would light up on the dash correct then it would fire right up. Now however it is not starting at all. Battery is fully charged but I am getting no power to the starter and only some of the idiot light are coming on. Any advice?
Soon as you turn the key certain "idiot lights" will come on regardless. Maybe you need to check the voltage getting to starter and check the battery terminals to ensure clean connections. It could also be an issue with a bad cell in the battery where if you check voltage without load it may be showing more then 12, but once load is put on dead cell shows itself..
Yes the idiot lights will come on regardless but only when they all come on like they should will the car start. when it is not getting the proper volts if any to the starter only a few of the idiot lights turn on. I am not very good when it comes to electrical. As far as the battery. Brand new and have checked all terminal connections. Trying to fig out what could be causing the issue. out of ten times starting the car it would do this maybe 2 out of ten but eventually after turning the key a few times it would start, has now gotten to the point of it wont start at all
also the chime of the door being open is not working ether thats another cue that the car will start. if I hear the chime it will start but now put the key in and the chime is not working.
When you say “idiot lights,” does that include the “SECURITY” light? The times your car does not start, does this light come on solid when you turn the key to start?
The key not triggering the “hey idiot you left your key in the ignition” chime also points to the same conclusion—the contacts in the ignition cylinder are bad. This is both causing it to not detect the key to chime when the door is open, and also means the CCM isn’t detecting the PASS-KEY resistance (which will refuse to let the car start).

My 94s chime started acting funny so I checked the battery voltage and it was below 12, so I replaced the battery. Check battery voltage with a voltage meter and connections.
Unable to get my 94 start!?! Sounds like same type of stuff. open door, chimes, idiot lights, security light blinks until I turn the key- it goes off === nothing. Battery show 12.4 volts? Thinking that might be it? Thanks
