Default 1989 ac

We just re built the HVAC and the programmer with parts purchase at Batee.com
All the buttons work now as they should but still the ac is still blowing threw dash vents and out the upper windshield defroster so split power
some vents or door isn't opening I assume because of the vacuum system but hard to tell it's all hidden. what ever air that is working is cold or at least "cool"
I'm also wondering if since that system is 32 yrs old can I upgrade the Fan motor to more output ?
without AC in Florida the car is useless

Did you check for vacuum making it to the programmer? You really need the factory service manual to troubleshoot further.

I sent all three parts to Batee two years ago. He did all three and no problems since. Sounds like a blend door problem.

This is what Bryan said I in e mail, I have no heater core
OK, so it sounds like the blend door motor is bad, but it doesn't matter because the heater core is bypassed, so it's full cold all the time.

I think a vacuum leak is responsible for air coming out the wrong vents. Make sure the programmer is mounted to the firewall before testing. It won't work right otherwise.

Thank you,

Bryan Thompson

Bill, I had a similar problem where the vents/door wasn't opening/closing fully and heat was pouring out by my legs when my heater was off. Don't know if this will help, but it was the HVAC programmer module located just above the gas peddle. See thread below.

Heat while driving, but my heater is off

we put it all pack together HVAC buttons work programmer seems to work but the center door just under the dash closes really slow and opens fast but doesn't close all the way 1" still left open not enough air blowing threw the system

IDK maybe Vac line that pulls it closed is leaking or pinched.

My 85 had it's vac lines (in back of radio) chewed in half by mice. Did you check when you had the radio and programmer out?
