Hood modification?
Has anyone added a cowl or raised section to a stock hood? I’m not a body guy but I was thinking about picking up a spare hood to mess with.

I haven done a cowl as I don't have much need for one but did install louvers (myself) in my hood. Working with the hood wasn't too difficult.

I haven't measured the underhood temps. (One of these days I'll get around to it, I'd just need a thermometer and some tape to block the louvers for a before/after temp.) The hood was getting hot enough from heat off of the turbocharger that you could smell it. That problem is gone with the louvers. If I drive it when it is cooler outside, you can see the mirage from the heat leaving the hood.

Those vents do look good. BTW, the paint on your hood looks great and shiny. You said turbo? Got a picture to share, I am always dreaming of a turbo on the c4 and I love to see the installation ideas.
I am not sure a hood scoop or cowl would look right interrupting the center valley in the hood. Though to make room for a new intake on L98 I would at least imagine.

like I said unless the scoop is needed for something. I have seen it plenty at car shows a stock car with a big hood scoop. Poser comes to mind.

The nicest looking I could find with a five minute internet search. And this one still has the center valley intact. I would rock that with a taller tunnel ram or turbo setup. Thanks Crowz in advance for borrowing your hood pic.

I believe I've got a thread about the turbo somewhere here. (In the never ending quest for more power, now I'm planning a twin turbo setup.)

The boost is controlled by my EFI. All I need to do to turn up the boost is change the boost setting. I just left it at 5 psi because the engine made my power goal (for now) there and don't want to push a stock bottom end much harder. (Until I have the new bottom end ready. Then I'll turn the boost up and see what it can take.)
