Hi everyone. I have a 92 corvette that I want to put the upgraded vented optispark in to eliminate the moisture problem making the car not want to start.
What do I need to buy and where? Thanks for any comments.

 

Do you know that your opti has moisture in it, or are you just guessing? Did you let the water pump dump on it or try to wash the engine bay?

 

Fauee asked a really good question. The non-vented optis get blamed for a lot of problems they don't cause. If you want to spend money changing an opti that's cool. But unless you have evidence that it's causing your problem it may not be the fix. I did change mine out because I had an upper radiator hose spring a pinhole leak and spray the front of the engine. The car still ran but I took the cap off and what I saw made me decide to change it. I don't think what I saw was caused by a one day event, but over time.

But the picture below is of an opti that was still working fine. but since I was that far into the job I decided to put a new one from the Opti doctor on. Don't think he is still building new. but last I heard he was taking old ones and rebuilding them. He does the vent conversion when he does.

You might want to post up what's going on. Is it just a extended crank before starting , no crank, etc. The only starting problems I have had were a burnt solenoid, and weak fuel pump.
BTW, once you're doing an opti on a 30 year old car, you probably are going to end up deciding to change out the radiator hoses, thermostat, water pump and such since your already in there. maybe bypass the throttle body water connection as well.

Again, this is a picture of a working non-vented opti. It takes more to kill them then you hear.

 

Petris has a kit to update your opti. It comes with everything you need. New cap & rotor , hose & hose fittings. Shipping was fast also. You might want to get a new opti harness while you’re doing the upgrade. Kevin
