I am looking at base C6 front 245x40r18 rear 285x35r19. to put on my 90. The more I search the more confused I get. Will these work and will I need spacers. Presently running 275/40/17 on all 4.

If you are buying them from a reputable wheel retailer, they should be able to give you advice on fitment.
If you are going to buy them from a private party, someone other than me will have to offer advice.
Good luck to you.
Find out the lug bolt pattern . C4 s pattern is 4.75 inches . I bought rims from like a 2010 Camaro and the pattern is 120 mm . These are off by approx 1 mm and will cause damage to the studs .I now have to go a different route
The bolt pattern is fine. You gave us tire sizes. I assume these are the stock base wheels with are 18x8.5 et56 front and 19x10 et79 rear, but you need to verify that. The front wheels and tires will fit fine, but they are skinnier than your stock sawblades with 275 tires. The rear wheels have way too much offset to fit properly without spacers. You would need at least 2/3" spacers, but you would probably be happier with more like 1" spacers. Those rear tires are about 1" too tall to really fit well on a C4. They might physically fit, but it's going to be close. You'd really want a 285/30 or 295/30 back there, but you may be able to get away with the tires on these wheels for now.
I purchased a set of C 6 wheels and installed them on my 92 convertible with new stock C 6 size tires. No spacers were used or needed and the only problem I found was they rub on the lower rear section of the inner wheel well. I haven't checked out if a small spacer would clear or if I can trim a small part of the inner wheel well for clearance. I much prefer the look.

Those don't appear to be OE C6 wheels, but rather replicas with little faux bolts to make them look like 3-piece wheels. Do you knowswhat offsets they have? Your tires also look a lot taller than stock, especially in front. What I can tell you is that a stock C6 18x10 et79 wheel will have 8.61" backspacing, whereas an 88-96 Corvette like the OP's can only use about 8" backspacing before it starts hitting/rubbing things on the inside. The fact that yours (regardless of what those wheels actually are) are hitting on the inside is an obvious indication that they do, in fact, require spacers to fit properly.
Darn I thought they were factory wheels. That's what they were sold as but you never know. I might have room for a small spacer maybe 1" would clear everything properly. I just seem to need them on the rear as the fronts seem to be okay.

On the OE C6 wheels, the fronts are fine for a C4. IF (big "if") your rear wheels are the stock 10" width and 79mm offset, then a 1" spacer would be about right. I would strongly suggest you take one off and see if you can find the actual dimensions stamped in the back, or else measure things yourself. We can't recommend a spacer thickness accurately without that info.
FWIW, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with your wheels. They look fine and the faux rim bolts are just a matter of taste. If they are round, look good to you, and fit then it's all good. You just have to work on that "fit" part.
Picked up a set of 1" spacers off Ebay for less than $50 and installed them last night. That made everything fit properly. Before when I said no spacers were needed I was wrong as the tires were rubbing on the inner plastic wheel well. Nice to have a group of people who can help.
