I just put on new tires(Conti Pro Sport) on my 1996 Vette. Since putting them on I have noticed quit a bit of shaking/vibration while driving over bumps. The steering column shakes. I am getting the tires rechecked (pressure/balanced) Any thoughts? Ideas?
Also would the car shake more with the targa top on and off.
Something with the tires. Some balancing machines don't center the rims correctly. Make sure of that. Could be a bad tire. The wheel shouldn't shake having the top off. Granted, with the top off the car is more flexible, but the wheel shouldn't shake.
Is it at all speeds ? Get worse the faster you go ? etc
Yeah scares me about the contis. But it was happening with the 18 yo Goodyears. I put a Gopro camera in the wheel well it really works, I found the culprit. So I had the wheel straightened but they didn't fix the wobble. New set of 17" ZR rims on the way and 2 new 285/40s. I wanted to avoid wide fronts b/c they bend easily. oh well.

Thank you,
As far as any shake to the car, i have a 96 convertible, I just took it for a drive down the interstate Sunday, umm, top down, about 80 mph, not so much as a wiggle, plenty of bumps on interstate 80 in Pennsylvania Yes the cars flex, but nothing shakes on my car, so I'm sure there's a suspension issue, or a rim issue or a tire issue.
