Default Intake Manifold and Unknown Sensor

Hi everyone.
I have taken off everything down to the intake manifold and will be removing next on my way to replacing a leaky valve cover gasket. However, there is a sensor connected to the back of the intake manifold that I do not know what it is. Could anyone please tell me what I am pointing to in the picture below.
While I have my plenum and runners off I am going to be refreshing them using Napa's Aluminum Brightener also pictured below. Could anyone respond that has used this product before and their experience with it. I am also planning to use in on the intake manifold but kind of unsure since the manifold has gas, coolant, and oil running through it. Would it be safe to use on the manifold.
Thanks for all your help.
Mark

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I kind of thought it was that but wasn't totally sure.
