Default Backup Camera Mirror

I want to put a backup camera on my '96 C4. One that shows the image in the rear view mirror. Is there a problem to gluing a puck to the windshield for attachment of a standard slip on mount? I haven't found anything in the archives that discusses the subject.

I am about to do the exact same thing and had the same question. What answer did you find and did you have any issues?

On my 96 the camera is above the plate and I think gives me a good view. Dan

There's a guy that has an adapter online to add a normal mirror to the car. Think it was on ebay.

That said, I toyed with this idea for my auto dimming rear view mirror, and mounted to the windshield I couldn't get the angle right to see out the back.

I replaced my rear view mirror last year with an aftermarket one that is glued to the windshield with bluetooth for my phone and a rearview camera LCD screen built in..I ran the wires for the rear view camera down the passenger side with the factory wires and out the factory grommet to the rear of the car.. well worth it just for the bluetooth capability.

I mounted a regular mirror to the glass with Loctite's adhesive and then had something like this strapped to the mirror. The mount fell off of the glass in less than a year.

Thanks I've been debating whether to go to the glass or fab up a block to mount to the original point.
