Just bought my first Vette, 1995 C4 Coupe and all in all, good condition for 64K miles. Ok my dilemma... I have been searching and searching and... for a key fob for the PKE system and I have found NOTHING!
I found a couple of places that have the, shell, but not a complete fob.
Does ANYONE know of a place that has the fob? Just ONE?
Or, does anyone know of a secondary source (or aftermarket) that has a fob that would work with our system?
I'd love to keep and use the original PKE system, but if I can't find a fob then I'm going to have to replace it with an aftermarket.
Any help in locating one would be greatly appreciated.

There are no "new" fobs available. Your only chance of getting one is buying a used one from someplace like eBay or Craigslist. As you know, prices are through the roof. There are no aftermarket or universal fobs that will work. I'm afraid the C4 remotes are going to become rare collectors items.

One word of caution, many members have experienced a lot of problems when trying to install aftermarket remotes on c4s with PKE. Of course, a lot of members haven't, also.
Check the C4 Forum under Parts for Sale/Wanted. A member has two for sale @$300 each.
Wouldn't they still need to be programmed to a particular car? If they can't be had on the after market I would think there would be no way of programming them for a particular car.

You can do that yourself. It's in the owners manual. Actually, you program the car to recognize the fob.

They are still out there for those that just have to have one, these three were in a box of "things" that came with a 96 roadster that I bought in 2017, found them when I got the car home, never use them so I just threw them into a desk drawer, I did send one to a Forum member in Texas for his 96 roadster, my price was $100.00, the other two will stay with the car and passed on to a new owner if and when I sell it.
Many shops still advertise them, but somewhere during the ordering process they come up as not available. I couldn't find any way to add the one above to the cart.

That's because they have not been available for years I guess .... My advice is if you really want one (and find one that's available) go for it!
I have one, my opinion is after you pay the outrageous price for it? you'll probably just keep it in a drawer, or just not use the thing, they really don't work all that well, and they are a royal PITA if you have one in your pocket and your working on your car, click, clack, click, clack, ugh. they're just not worth it.
That isn't a valid link. And just so you're aware, you're incorrect; there are only two internal designs for keyfobs, and each one have the option of one of 2 different exterior cases (and button count) depending on whether the target vehicle is a coupe or convertible. The coupe and convertible fobs, while externally very different, are internally identical. So if someone is selling a convertible and you have a coupe (or vice versa), just grab a cheap case for your particular body style on Amazon and replace it.
"Old" keyfobs have a proper GM FCC label on the back, and inside have a battery holder that uses two tiny metal "prongs" to touch the outer edge of the battery. This design was based on a Sanyo battery that is no longer in production, and they have issues with newer batteries becoming loose over time. The "new" keyfobs are the ones that say "PNZ0202T" on the back, and were redesigned for GM by an engineer who used to refurbish them up until last year. They have a newer battery holder inside designed for the Renata CR2450N.
No one ever made any replacements after Zylor Inc stopped producing the latter design. So additionally anyone who claims "Chinese knockoffs" exist is lying through their teeth. Boy do I wish they existed. Sure would be nice to not have to pay $500 for a dumb RF keyfob.

You sure do like copying and pasting this post into every single thread about keyfobs...
Anyway OP, as you've already discovered, they're rare and expensive and if you're missing one you're probably out of luck unless you really want to drop big bucks on one.

For any of you fellow engineers out there for your understanding, the fob uses 120 KHz AM fixed code (no psuedo random generator). I have supplied the schematics, external/internals, block diagrams, and FCC test report. I think I could clone this. I also read the CR2032 battery is compatible.

Couldn't agree more. I haven't used mine in twenty years.

Dido...I just got my 40th and the one fob I got with the car is already in the drawer. It's easier to carry the keys in your pocket. The fob is bulky. Coming to the present day fob, My Ram 2500 Longhorn keyless push button fob is a PITA to carry in a pants pocket way too big!

Yep. Anyway, best of luck to anyone who has the necessary equipment to reverse-engineer these fobs and make a replacement. Anything is better than people scalping them for several hundred dollars.

Just wondering if somewhere like a prototyping company could use these to build a clone? There's a place JLB PCB that does prototype boards pretty cheaply?

You can program the fob/car yourself (assuming everything works as it should), simple instructions are in the owners manual.
