I have a friend, actually the guy that owns that Posche 924S in my sig, he's thinking about selling that and buying a vette. His budget is about $7500-8000 so we need some advice, this will be his daily driver and he wants speed. He's thinking possibly a C3 or a C4 I would prefer him to get the newest he can afford obviously but he's thinking the style of the C3 is more appealing. We just need some good opinions as far as speed/style/maintenance stuff like that. He wants to be able to run with me
 Also whatever car he buys he will have about $500-700/month to throw in for mods and such. What think??
For 7500-8000, he should be able to get into a decent 1st gen C-4 (1985-1987) with higher mileage. He will have to put in some serious mods on whatever car he gets in that price range if he wants to keep up with your C5. The C4 aftermarket is huge, and he would have the excellent L98 engine as a canvas for mods, and I also think the reliability will be much greater with a C4 vs. a C3. Just my two cents.
However, it shouldn't take much to please him after driving that 924 around! :D
On second thought, if he has 700 bucks to throw into mods each month, why doesn't he trade in the 924 and finance a late model Corvette? He can buy a lot of vette for 700 a month! :smash:

That's what I was thinking too. That's double the amount he'd need if he were to use the $8000 as a deposit and finance the rest. Buy a newer model, and drop $300/month into it instead for mods...
