Default Exhaust System

Original exhaust, 1985. Is that a single system or are the left and the right replaceable separately?

Items like exhaust manifolds and mufflers can be replaced separately as there is one on each side. All other central / shared exhaust items cannot be replaced separately. Not sure what you need to replace, or why.
A quick websearch for "1985 Corvette exhaust system" reveals this photo which shows at least 1 central piece:

I have a hole here and no matter how or how often I patch it, it keeps growing

K... Here's a radical suggestion...

Call Allen's Stainless Exhaust and lose the entire stock system for one of their mufflerless true dual systems. Better sound, no drone, more power, never rusts through.

Other than that, a competent muffler shop should be able to replace or repair the section in question.

Go to an exhaust shop and have them plumb new pipes from where the pipes separate, then straight out the back, no mufflers.

Or buy a cat back kit. I have a corsa cat back on my 86. Slightly costly but best thing I ever did to the car

Went to a muffler shop and there is a hole in the other side also. He can cut them both out and rebuild them for $150.00/side. Some of those prices I saw were a little out of my budget...1,000.00 - 3,000.00
Thanks,
Frank
