If you alter the exhaust system, especially that middle bit, prepare for some nasty drone in the cabin.
I had magnaflow from the resonator back and it droned horrendously. Replacing the resonator with a magnaflow one took care of it enough to not be unbearable. Dunno how the stock exhaust would be without the resonator but I'm gonna guess that drone would be right back again.
I had mine removed and added an X-pipe, it sounds better
Same as stated above, I've done this with my last 3 LT1's and i love it...with stock mufflers it actually is quieter but at the same time has a better (lower) rumble.
Replaced resonator with custom x-pipe...$150 total cost for fab and install
Below: My experiences only...your results and/or tastes may be different than mine but here we go....
pic#1 94' stock mufflers, x-pipe (quiet, low rumble...really nice tone. NO drone with stock mufflers)
