It is not about weight distribution it's all about the heat is the enemy no. 1 for the battery..
C4 Corvette are beautiful car!
The battery location inside engine bay specially ZR-1 build excessive heat from engine itself and headers which reduce the Bat life.
Eliminating battery located in the side fender will discharge hot air from there too, for 1990 model as an example!
Most nowadays cars, the battery is located at rear, Mercedes and Audi for example, my Audi TT 2009 as well.

a battery will only last so long. what do you think your going to gain? one or two years? how is that even measurable or worth while to basteridze your car
My question is where would you put it in the rear compartment?
Only enough room for my golf bag back there!
I would leave it where it's at.
I relocated the battery in my 74 Capri but that is different, it has a small trunk & I needed the engine bay space.
Spent about 150$ for wire think it was #1 gauge (heavy), terminals, clamps & a nice box to put it in.
Better than half a days work.

Is that a full size battery in there? I didn't think there was enough room in the compartment.
not full size battery,
Maybe Optima or Odyssey brand small size, but make sure using higher Amp cranking specification battery!
I have no idea what the best .

You will also lose some cranking amps due to the longer battery cables required to reach the rear compartment. I believe that the C4 already has pretty good balance in the F-R weight distribution. I wouldn't do it, but hey, it is your car - make it the way you want it to be.

My Audi TT battery relocated and the rear far trunk from the factory. I haven't issues losing amps there ✌️😎
