Default Acrylic top question

Hello all,
1987 Corvette coupe 62000 original miles automatic.
My car has the acrylic top which I love but I'm learning that the hot sun making its way inside probably hastened my seats fading and dash pad cracking. Plus its hot as all get out in the summer months. I've dyed my seats and refinished the dash pad and don't ant to do it every couple years so the question is....
Has anyone ever refinished their acrylic top? Either by painting it or with window tint. The car is all black with a red interior. I do not mind it not being original but it is a very nice condition 87.

Thanks for any input or advice,

Kevin

When I bought my 88 in 2002 it was in St Pete Beach Florida. When we started to take it all apart, I thought the top was ruined from the sun as it was hard to see through and was bubbled up. Turns out the previous owner half-assed a piece of tint to the OUTSIDE of the top. Peeled it off and was fine.
Point is, I see no reason you can't tint the top from the inside like anything else. Either that or bring it to a canvas shop and have them make a piece of vinyl that attaches to the inside with velcro or something else. This way it will fully block the sun, and when removed gives you your nice see through top again. And this way its not permanent also..

I have the blue tinted acrylic top and feel the heat from the sun also.
I recently Plastidipped the rims on my car and they came out nice. Seems to be holding up well to the heat and abuse of the road.
I have thought about trying to Plastidip the inside of my top to act as a heat shield. I don’t think it would harm the acrylic and Incould peel it off in the winter.

I have not done this. I am still in the thought phase.

You can get a sunshade that suction cups to the inside of the top or made of "static cling" vinyl if you want shade. Cost about $50 on Amazon, eBay, Ecklers, or get a piece of vinyl, cut it out and make your own.
Easily removable when you want.

Realized this the other month when I was fighting the Sun turning the interior into boiling when parked, windows down even.
Acrylic top is part of it, but so is the rear hatch! Impossible to do sunshades for those...on the inside!

Noted this out there:

Outside cover over all the glass. Supposed to be quick to put in place. Minor issue that anyone could grab and go, though supposed to be some "locks" in place.

I tried a vinyl stickon for cover while driving, it simply wouldn't stick.
