Default Temp sensor

How would I check if the digital temperature readout is accurate? Also, I understand there are two temp sensors, one on the passanger side and to the rear of the engine block for the analog gauge and the one for the digital readout on the front of the engine at the waterpump.. Is this correct?

I think the ECM only sees the one above the pump if it is an L98. Scan the ECM and hit the sensor with an IR Thermometer and you can see what it says.

It is a 1993 so the engine is an LT1

Principle is the same. Scan and see what the ECM sees vs what the thermometer says

Digital is probably correct, what temps are you seeing?

On the 2nd gen clusters, the analog gauges are pretty much crap. They should line up with what the digital gauge is saying but they are just weird setups...I rarely pay attention to the analog gauges but cycle through the digital gauges when I want to check things. Only thing I use the analog gauges it to make sure nothing looks really off.

As mention the coolant sensor is on the front of the block by the water pump on LT1/4 and from what I remember there is just the one.

I just changed out the water pump on my 96 LT1 and it was actually *on* the water pump, not the engine block.
Curious, what years LT1/4 were they not on the water pump?

Mine might have been on the water pump, I admit I don't recall fully and too lazy to dig out the FSM right now , but do remember I broke the sensor by mistake when changing out the serpentine belt and had to replace it.
