About two years ago I was approached by my insurance company and asked if I'd like to see my car in a major production? HBO was shooting a series in upstate NY and relevant to the plot line was a Chevrolet dealership from 1990. They used a current dealership and populated the showroom and lot with cars from that vintage. Being a Corvette, mine would have most likely ended up on the showroom floor.
I seriously considered it - how cool to see your car used in a major movie/TV production? But considering the logistics of transport, lodging etc. I decided not to participate. About a month later my older son e-mailed me with news. While this is not the article he sent, it is one of many that were written after the fact...
I was just wondering if anybody on this board lost a car in this fire? I don't remember the HBO series, so don't know if they resumed filming or just pulled the plug on this project.
I thought about this because my C4 - the car in question
- is for sale (listed on this forum) and I related this story to a prospective buyer.
I recently rented my 1985 Buick Lesabre Estate Wagon to a movie company who had it for a month. I had some reservations but luckily the only call I received was that a brake line was leaking as well as the radiator. They offered to pay half so I did let them do the brake line. The leaking radiator turned out to be just a rubber hose that was beyond its usefulness.
