Default Z07 Progress Report

So a few months back I bought a ‘94 Z07 that was said to need new carpet and a paint job. Well that wasn’t the case. The engine had to come out to fix a bunch of melted wiring. At that point I decided it was time to put in an LM4 instead of an LS3 because of the already stiff suspension. When we got ready to replace the brake lines and dropped the shield, we found out that the car had a fire! (See pictures below). So now at this point I decided I might as well do the whole interior over. I’m looking for ideas on seats. The ones in that were in the car didn’t work and I’m also considering putting in a 4 point cage. If anyone has any ideas on where to buy a cage and suggestions preferably with pictures on seats that would be awesome, thanks.

Are you going to actually race it? I had OMP WRC seats in my car for a bit, they were awesome. Sparco has some very nice options too.

I ended up fixing and recovering my sport seats and have been really happy with them, but I was veeeeery close to buying c5 sport seats because they have pass through for harnesses.

I’m not sure that I’ll be racing it. However, I like the C5 and C6 seats. If I found a clean pair and was able to wire them in, I’d buy a set of them.

So a bit of an of work has been done since my last post. Every wire has been removed from the engine bay to clean it up and I bought a stand alone harness and a 411 ECU. While waiting for the machine shop to finish building the engine (only 4 months now). I decided to tackle the interior issue. My initial plan was to replace the carpet and seats only. Well that has changed since a previous owner has a countless number of scotch locks that are broken, burnt wires and exposed wires going no where. I was at the point of just junking the and had a couple friends talk me out of that and just buying a new wiring harness from Painless. So $600 and I probably don’t want to know how much I spent on overnight shipping, the dash has been removed and it’s not pretty to say the least. At some point someone who either didn’t care started cutting wires. I found missing bulbs as to not set off the airbag light (pictures on this below). It’s a good thing no one just decided to do a tuneup and start driving this car, a fire would’ve been the least of their problems God forbid they got into a bad accident and the air bag didn’t deploy. The drivers side airbag wasn’t plugged in either. Fortunately I have good friends who are also ASE certified techs and very very good at wiring. Since I was away on business they have since removed the dash (that cost me a few bottles of adult beverages) and started removing all the wiring from the car. So the plan right now is to keep the factory gauge cluster HVAC control and ignition. More details to follow as we progress. I also switch to SPC control arms. Just waiting now for the coil overs to ship as well as the suspension bushing kit.

Also the BCM as well as ABS module and ride control are being eliminated so if anyone needs that stuff shoot me an offer. With everything coming out of this storage is becoming limited and I hate to through it all away.
