First of all, I just joined the forum. I have monitored it for quite sometime and have found very helpful information. It amazes me the amount of help that is available by just asking on a forum such as this. I do own a couple of vetted. A 69 with a 427 4 speed all matching numbers. My current project is an 86 convertible. I have rebuilt the engine with a crane cam as per recommendation from this membership. Headman headers and AIR delete.
Now, my problem and question. I use a 2 post asymmetrical lift and the car has been up and down approximately 20 to 30 times in the past month. All was fine until yesterday. Car was lowered to about w feet off the ground. Hah passenger door opened to remove seat an carpet. Ran car up again to do some work under engine. Got back down again and noticed a big crack in the windshield. Bottom center an forks up at about 1 inch into 2 3inch long cracks. My lift points seem to be solid with the front pads on frame just behind engine and the rear pads on the rear of the “X” brackets in front of rear tires. My searches on this forum did not point me to any possible causes that I found. Anyone have ideas. Thanks
Welcome aboard. Did you have just the passenger side door open while lifting the car ? If so I think that was the issue. I have an 89 convertible that has been up/down on my lift many times with no issues.
