I just saw a post on Instagram that showed the right and wrong ways to put wheels on a C4 and it appears that the wheels on my 1989 are backwards. In other words the main supports sweep towards the rear of the car on top and the front of the cat car on the bottom. Is it a problem for now and should I get it rectified right away?

It's an appearance issue that gets certainly 'debated/argued' from time to time but so long as your tires(if directional) are orientated to the correct side of the car I believe you're fine.
It might be wise to post an image of your car as it is currently for comment. Is it a 'pair' that are incorrect or all four seem incorrect. Do you have 2 X 2 that actually match or might you maybe have an issue with 3 and 1.
Correct orientation for all year C4 wheels is represenred very well by Joby a regular 'poster' here on the CF.
Thank you. The challenge with these directional tires is if I put the wheels on properly I’m going to have to remove the tires and remount them so I likely will just leave them the way they are.

I have also read that the wheels were directional in order for air to help aid in brake cooling by directing air heat generated by braking away from the brakes. Here's one mention of it from a book about the then new 1984 Corvette:

And even though that's a different RPO wheel if you read the 'entire paragraph' in your presentation it says what I pointed out 'In real life' DOES IT REALLY MATTER! I'd suggest there's actually a little 'sarcasm' to be assumed in that presentation.
@kenmohr makes it a point to mention this every time '88 - '90 QA1 wheels are mentioned, I doubt he's actually sure!!! I maintain that 'It Matters NOT' It's an 'Appearance Treatment' under the cover of 'PERFORMANCE'! Can you imagine any C4 directional wheel pattern mount in a 4 X any of them! Very silly, hysterical appearance!
