Default Budget hatch vent

I always wanted to try a hatch vent so I decided to make my own. I cost me $7.62 in hardware and I used tools I already had. You will need to buy (1) 1/4 turnbuckle Everbilt 372 057 and (1) 5/16 x4" eye bolt Everbilt 115 410. Take hardware out of the turnbuckle as you won't need that, drill and tap one of the holes in the turnbuckle in 5/16 thread. Then put the turnbuckle in a vise and cut a section out with a hacksaw, Now you can assemble it and try it out. The eye bolt fits a little loose in the catch, so I layer it in shrink wrap later. Now I need to make a long button to keep off the dome lights.

Good job ! I used to have one from one of the Vette parts vendors, but it was cheaply made and broke in no time. For anyone who hasn’t tried this, it works really well.

The one picture looks like it's bending the turnbuckle a bit, I might have to add a pivoting arm catch to tension both sides.

For the price of a turnbuckle, you can’t beat it. I think I paid $20 for one for holding the window up an inch and it broke after a few times.
