Hello .. I’m a first time C4 owner .Always wanted one . Bought a 94 convertible 6 speed with 29 K miles from a dealer in CT. . I’m the second owner .Previous owner only drove it a few hundred miles in the last 5 years . Any advice to a new owner . Thanks
Nice looking car, enjoy it. You've gotten good advice on changing the fluids, especially coolant and brake fluid. Also be sure to check the condition of your coolant and brake system hoses, especially if they are the originals.
Yes … the car had tires from 2007 … the dealer put 4 brand new Nitto’s NT555 G2 performance tires on it . Also fresh Mobil 1 oil change and new brake pads . The Vette is riding on the hard side though , so I probably need shocks too .
Welcome to the forum!! That's a beautiful 94! The best advice I can offer to maintain the car and drive it. These cars love to be driven and seem to run better and better the more you drive them. Keep up on routine maintenance such as fluids, filters, drive belt, spark plugs etc. Taking care of the car will help it last a long long time. The car appears to be well cared for already which is a plus. Does it have the FX3 adjustable shock damping?
glos52 welcome to the forum! You will find a wealth of information and dozens of people ready to help. I see you are in the northeast. A word of caution, the Nitto NT555 G2s are classified as an ultra high performance summer tire. Some tires in that category can't be driven in temps below 40 degrees. They need summer heat for maximum grip. Some of the compounds used can be damaged by cold weather. One tire retailer states "Due to its summer-specific tread compound, the NT555 G2 drastically loses grip in temperatures below about 40° F. The NT555 G2 isn’t safe to be used year-round, through four seasons." You should check with Nitto before cold temps hit.
This is Tire Rack's ultra high performance tire disclaimer:
"Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced."
Welcome, Great looking Corvette... Look for the RPO code sticker under the rear compartment door or center console door (don't remember when they moved it) Anyway it will list all the factory options. You can also contact the Corvette museum and get the build sheet and window sticker.
