Default C3 Guy needs info

Guys, Just sold my C3 and I'm looking to move up to a C-4. What are the differances between the 94-95-96 models? Anyone better than the other? I heard that at some point the C-4s went to the OBD system and to stick with those year models?? Appreciate any helpful info or recommendations!

Since I've been on the forum I've always heard to buy the newest vette you can afford. There are a lot of other guys on here that can give you specifics though.

Here is a start, some things might be off by a year.

1992 The into of the LT1

1993 Changed the rims sligtly, front and rear tires come in two sizes, torque bumped to 340ft/lbs

1994 minor interior change over, redesigned seats, passenger side air bag added, OBD2

1995 minor changes, I think they changed the rods this year as well as added a trans fluid temp gauge to automatics

1996 LT4 standard in all manual trans cars, rated at appx 330 HP, 1996 LT'4's are generally the most recommended C4 to get, it’s the newest and very peppy.

All C4's have On Board Diagnostics.

OBD I 84-95*
OBD II 96

*94 and 95 had OBDI systems with OBDII connectors.

95/96 have the bigger ZR1 brakes, and also a better vented Optispark (distributor which can't get wet)

1)'92-'94 had the 1st version Optispark distributor, which is not vented and is less reliable than the '95-'96 version. Neither version takes well to getting wet.
2)'94 - fuel managment returned to Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, which adapts to modifications a little easier than the previous system.
3)'94 was the first year for Sequential Fuel Injection (SFI) for better startup, idle and drivability
4)'88-'95 - there was the standard 12" brake package, and the optional J55 HD, 13" brakes. In '96 all brakes were the J55 option.

5)In general, Chevy continually refined the car almost every year. Get the latest year that your budget allows.

Well since you asked about 94,95, and 96 Vettes I'll stick to those. 1994 received many improvements so I'll only list a few big ones. 94 got a slightly redesigned interior with dual airbags, and new seat styles that were more comfortable for wider bottoms, The Fuel injection went to sequential fuel injection, where only the combustion chamber that needed fuel would have the injector fire, previously Corvettes had "batch' fuel injection where 4 injectors would alternate spraying at the same time. Sequential gives you lower emmissions better mileage, and idle. the 94 LT1 also got 10 more ft lb of torque. A/C recieved the R-134 refridgerant. In 1995 the otispark was vented by a vacuum line running from the casing to the intake manifold. It was designed to use manifold pressure to suck any moisture that got inside, but remember the Optispark is basically just a fancy distributor cap and has to be replaced eventually. 1995 also received many improvements, All 95's got the ZR1/ZO7 brakes which were an inch larger, 95's also benifitted from stronger seat stitching, Auto trans temp guage, quieter cooling fan, more velcro for reduced squeeks and rattles, new (better) gill design, better interior leak protection,Powder metal connecting rods. 1996 Got the New hot rodded LT1 which was called the LT4. LT4s were rated at 330 hp as opposed to 300 for an LT1 and were only offered in 6-Speed cars and were standard in Grand Sports, and optional in all other 1996 Corvettes. All 1996 LT1 cars were auto. Corvettes became OBDII in 96, trouble codes increased from 60 to 140. 96s used "waterborne" paint that pretty much got rid of the tendency for the paint on the urathane bumpers to fade faster than the rest of the car. Other improvements are, auto's with improved shifting and tougher torque converter, F45 damping replaces FX3, F45 reacted to the road faster and more accuratly it could control each shock individually unlike the previous system. If I were you I'd get a 96 if it were in your budget. :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering: :iagree: :steering:
