Default 1985 alarm system problems

Hello! My dad and I were working on my corvette, and in the process of removing the passenger door panel, we managed to activate the anti-theft system. I tried inserting the key into the driver side door as specified in the owner’s manual to no avail. Any and all help would be appreciated since now I can’t start the car, and the only way to shut off the alarm was to disconnect the battery.

P.S. this is my first post.

You can pull the Anti theft system 10 amp fuse that is located behind the information screen. That will eliminate the alarm system but in doing so your horn won't work but the engine will start . Another way to eliminate the alarm system is to disconnect the plug from the alarm module up inside the passenger foot well but good luck getting to it and in doing it this way your horn will work just leave the fuse in though. Go from there to figure out what is wrong as far as replacing faulty alarm system items or do as I did, no alarm.

Thanks for the reply. While I have no intentions of removing or disabling the alarm, I do have some more questions. I noticed that I couldn’t shut off the alarm after the door locking buttons were disconnected on the passenger door when we removed the door panel. Would this cause the issue by the circuit not being complete? Also, could the alarm relay be shot? If memory serves, I was able to turn off the alarm system with the key before removing the passenger door panel. At least the 85 Vettes don't use the VATS system, so there’s no chip key to deal with.
