Default Am I doing this right??

I took the roof off my car tonight, so I could do a few things (easier) on the interior while the Z2 dried, I opened the rear glass, and set the roof into it's slots... Now, correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't the roof panel slide into the 'rests' behind your seats, then towards the back of the car it rest on the curtain handle??? I was wondering why they didn't design it so it sat down, firm, and the shade could close over the top????
One other thing, the roof makes a lot of noise when it's in the back, sounds like it's banging around back there.. Is there a more secure method besides leaving it at home, out of the car?!?!

If you look, there is a hole at the front of the panel. You place the panel in 180 degrees from the front, so the rear goes in first and rests in the holders, then the front, you pull back on the slide handle and the **** goes in the hole at the front of the panel.

Nope :nonod: . After you slide it into the holders behind the seats, you pull the T handle located in the center/top above the cover handle. This retracts a small tip and allows your top to drop into place. There is an indentation in the center of the frame that the tip slips back into and this holds everything secure. Shouldn't rattle or move around.

I aggree though that the general screwed up when they didn't allow the shade to cover the glass. Darned thing takes up all the room in the back. :mad

Oh well, there's the problem and the fix.

:seeya  :flag

p.s.: Must agree with Mr. Mojo's post. According to the times on the posts, I was busy typing my long azzed response while Mojo zipped that one off. Sorry about that. And yes, he's right. :seeya

Turn the B**ch around  . Let the front of the roof face YOU and put it in backward so the rear rests flat in those slots. The rear should be parralel to the straight edge of your rear cargo area behind your seats. The round end should face the rear of the car and the top of the roof (outside) is up. Look at the front of the frame, about where the mirror would be on the inside of the car. You should see the indentation there for the tip.

Well then I think I'll jump on the retarded band wagon because I've always put the FRONT of the roof behind the seats and the rear to the back of the car.. Wrong?!?! So it does sit tighter after all  , I'll go down in a few and check it out.. I have some insulating to do in the garage so I actually get to take the Vette OUT.. Wow, a 15' cruise.

Ok, well, thanks AGAIN, guys!! I went out (been out there for 4 hours!) and took the top out of the back(took a pictures of the WRONG way, of course, for any others that want a picture of right/wrong) and put it in the way you guys suggested, and it's MUCH MUCH better... I've been wondering, since I got the car, what the little latch is for on the back, near the glass latch, now I know :)

This is really scary, I don't know if I've been doing it the right way, or the wrong way now. Always seemed like it rode O.K. the way I was doing it, but now you've got me wondering, shoot, that's right, I usually take it into the bedroom and lay it on the bed

Well, I always thought I had it the right way , too, but I also always wondered what the little 'lever' is for in the very back. Even in the small owners manual it shows pulling the lever back, and sliding the nipple into the roof. Until someone here said it, I had no clue what they were talking about
