OUTLAWING CORVETTES DID YOU HEAR ABOUT IT
I went to a friends house today and his wife said she saw on the news about outlawing corvettes. She said they said something about the steering but she really didn't know much about it. She didn't know if it was just state wide or federal. Has anyone heard about this. :U
AfterI posted this I found a post about this it pertains to steering lockig up on the C5 and the feds are investigating it.

If they outlaw the vette then they're gonna have to outlaw Firestone, and Cell Phones, and Soccer moms because they cause a whole lot more wrecks and fatalities than the steering problem on the vette ever has.

That happend 2 my Uncles C5 awhile back. He had it towed 2 the dealer, the fixed it with no problem. Just recall them, fix them and they'll be fine :yesnod:

The federal gov't is investigating the Chevy Corvette after receiving hundreds of complaints that the steering wheel column can lock up & cause the driver to lose control. 25 crashes & 10 injuries have been reported in the investigation, which covers 131,981 vette's from the 1997-2001 model years. GM fielded 24,127 warranty claims about the condition. A report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states GM is not making it a safety defect bacause there has been a small number of crashes with no serious injuries or death. In other words GM will fix it after the incident occurs but won't recall 131,981 corvettes. :confused:

It sounds to me like your friend is impressed with your Vette and this is his wife's way of saying he better not even think about getting one.

Have you heard about some "tree hugging" Congressmen that want to outlaw and destroy (read: crush) any car that does not have an emisions system? Not sure of details or if this is even still an issue, but I guess this is any car built before 1972? That's total :bs :cuss
