The last time I checked the codes on my 1994 LT1 I was able to get and clear a code, now I can get the computer to respond to the paper clip to the pin in the upper left and bottom right terminal. Nothing on the dash. Any help is appreciated.
Ignition or fueling issues may not always throw a code, especially on OBD-I cars where a single cylinder is involved (ask me how I know....).
A NOID light will be a good start you on your narrowing down your troubleshooting: More than one cylinder involved or just ONE? Resistance compares with other wires (especially a wire of near equal length), swapping plugs: does the miss follow the particular plug - or does a new plug end the issue?
Switching the injector with another cylinder: does the miss follow the injector? If so, you have your answer (replace them ALL with new stainless injectors and NOT (so called "rebuilt" injectors!!).
..... (etc)
Anyway...these are some things you can check which may not always throw a code, initially. Measuring the performance (as installed) will provide you with solid clues and avoid throwing parts at it and hoping the problem goes away!
