Hi folks, I’m a newbie here and a first time Corvette owner at 75 years old lol. Just picked up my car yesterday and I’m in love already 39k original miles, automatic, just what I wanted…..
Question - can I get a second set of keys made at a normal locksmith shop or do I need to go to a dealer?
Thanks!

I don't know that I'd agree on the W-mart. If you've got now maybe very clean B&S A & B blanks then maybe since only spares BUT try them before you leave the lot. If they're NOT B&S correct head keys then maybe I'd get a pair of B&S correct head. To many it really does matter!! Many locksmiths actually have B&S blanks. These days a dealer that hasn't been in business for many years they may not even have blanks.

Thank you sir, the locksmith shop i plan on using has been in business for 50 years so they might have the key blanks you are referring to. But I’ll be testing whatever keys they make before I leave.

I'm curious, so its your 1st corvette? what made you decide to get one?

I wanted a challenge and entering and exiting this vehicle is certainly that lol
But honestly, I’ve always wanted a Vette since my high school days. And I’m planning to live to 150 so It still qualifies as a mid life crisis 😆
I had the same issue, but here in the middle of Europe (Czech Republic, not far from Prague), with my 85. I tried first locksmith shop nearby and guess what - in 15 minutes I had both ignition and door lock keys. I was very surprised, not too many Corvettes or even older Chevrolet cars around, but they just had the right blanks...

Bucket list type thing huh? That's pretty cool. I'm going on 60, so I'm rather young in comparison, and they are a pain in the *** getting in and out of. But it's the part of being in and driving one that makes it worth the hassle.
Hope you live until your 150, and we meet for coffee...haha
