Default Auto shipping

I just bought a 96 LT4 coupe and need to get it shipped from Miami to San Diego. I'd like to go with a company owned truck instead of a broker, and preferably enclosed. Shipping is expensive and hard to come by at the moment, apparently a bunch of high end auctions happened recently.

So far my best quote has been from Select 1 Group for $1950 enclosed. Anyone have experience with them? Or recommendations for/against other shippers?

In 2018 when I bought my car I used Montway. I specified enclosed trailer. They quoted me $1169.00 from Buffalo , MN. to my home in Southern , PA. . I was thinking big company transporter. It was more like shipping wars . They bid it out. What I got was a contractor with a four wheel drive Dodge Ram and an enclosed trailer that could hold two to three vehicles. He had drop offs along the way so I was last car delivered. Over all it turned out alright. Car came without any damage. The previous owner sent me a nice large steel floor jack and a pair of jack stands. The owner boxed the items up and I told Montway I didn't want these items shipped in the car. At the time I got two other quotes one was from Reliable for $1900.00 and the other one was over $1400.00 and would have been a contractor not a company transport like Reliable.

$1950 seems really cheap to me to transport from Miami to San Diego.

I spent half that to ship mine from Palm Bay, Florida up the coast to here which was around 1000 miles. Not counting the driver's other drop-offs. That was including cargo insurance. That company was based in Fort Lauderdale. It was a broker.

Zj96,
Unless you go through a specific company (ex. Horseless Carriage, Inner City Lines, Plycar, etc.) most will likely broker it out. That said if I needed any enclosed shipping I would be contacting Andrew at Southern Integrity Auto Transport to see what he could offer.

Congratulations on your new LT4 - they are great cars, enjoy it.

Fly to Miami for $450, spend $600 for fuel, 3 nights food and lodging at $600 and get to know your new car on a nice long road trip. You will get to know the car and be able to figure out what needs work and any changes you want to make.

Also keep in mind:
Most cars being shipped are going west to east.
I bought a Mustang almost 20 years ago and had it shipped from Nevada to New York.
Talking to the driver back then he said he usually went back empty being that most people out west had no need for a car from the east aka the rust belt.
Things may have changed over the years, I could be wrong.

People are definitely going west to east now fleeing the political climate out west. That's why it's so cheap of a quote, they're making their money on charging people all the money to leave the west.
