Default Vert Hardtop trim removal

I am doing a color change on a hardtop that I acquired for my 95 vert. My question is how to remove the black metal trim at the front leading edge that then extends over the window seal without damaging it. I would like to be able to reinstall the trim after painting so hopefully there is a way to remove it without damage. I do not mind replacing the weather-stripping if I have to, but if it can be saved I would like to do so since it is in excellent original condition. I may or may not remove the rear glass window but if there are suggestions for that I am open to removing that prior to paint. My local shop will match my paint with no issues but they do not want to have anything to do with the trim.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My research suggest taking a wooden paint stirring stick, laying it parallel to the trim piece, and gently tapping it with a plastic mallet to remove the trim. Move around the top gently working it gradually off. It is supposedly a press fit only with no adhesive. I have not tried this yet as I am now recovering from some hand surgery.

I picked up this tip in the paint section of this forum.
